My Holidays

Well, well, well, what a lot of emotions that I have felt during the Term 3 Holidays! Some of the emotions I felt were relief, boredom, excitement, anger, happiness, sadness and of course panic! With this recount on my holidays you will get to experience some of the emotions that I went through, so here goes.

One of the very first emotions I had was relief. I felt this because of course after a long term of school work I got to have a two week holiday, and really, who wouldn't want that?

Then I started to boredom, why this was, was because the next few days were really, really, really boring. All I got to do as watch TV and play outside. How boring, boring, boring!

But then things started to liven up. My sister who I had only seen once ever in my life was coming to Auckland. And with this news I was over the moon excited! Before we got to see her though, my Dad, my Mum, my brother and I went to the Waikato River. It was really weird there the tide was so high if you stepped off the grass into the water it would be already up to your knees. My brother and I saw this house on an island in the middle of the river. It was run down and looked more like a playground but my dad told us a story about it. He said that a man once lived there and he used to put out traps to stop the police from coming to get him off the island. That was really funny. Anyways we ended up not doing anything because it was so deep, so we packed up and drove to my nan’s place.

When we went to my nan’s, I felt really delighted to get to see my sister. Over the next couple of days we all played games like Ninja, Tag, Soccer etc. But when it was time for her to go back to Martin I felt a little bit sad.

The last week of the holidays went by in a blurrrrrrrrrrrrr. But on the very last day of the holidays my family and I went to St Heliers and tried to build sandcastles. It was really fun.

I had an excellent holiday, it was fun with all the ups and downs of any regular holidays. So that was my Term 3, and I hope that you enjoyed reading about it.

Tamaki Intermediate's Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony!

Wow! What a day, rugby, face paint and flags who wouldn't want that! Well if you want to know what I am talking about keep reading! Everything started on Friday 9th of September 2011. Tamaki Intermediate was having a RWC Opening Ceremony and the whole school was taking part. Every class had a country to support. Room 3 had New Zealand, Room 2 had Australia, Room 12 had France, Room 1 had South Africa, Room 7 had Fiji and Room 8 were staunch supporters of Tonga.

When it was late in the morning the school walked down to the courts outside of the hall and lined up. We were all busying ourselves by trying to be the very best supporter of each country. While this was happening the teachers took a lot of photos. Then it was time to go inside of the hall and be seated.

Our class went in first because we were hosting the real Rugby World Cup. While each country walked a song from their country played. It was really fun while this was happening because a lot of people were dancing and they were jumping up and down. Then it was time to settle down. Next, Mike said a speech, he started off in Samoan then went on in English. We all went quiet, then Mike, to officially start off the games, kicked a rugby ball balloon, and the games begun.

Everyone started to drift to the field and then every class got behind the seat that said their country name on and then we started!

There was a few games that were held. First there was Chip and Chase. The objective of this game was to chip the ball with your toes then chase it down the field. This was also played as a relay. A group of kids from our class did this, I think that they were excellent and they tried their hardest.

Then there was also a Chant Challenge, this was where each class represented their country by doing a chant. Our class did a Haka. We were really loud and were proud to have Lika and Vea represent us and be the leaders. In that challenge we were victorious!

Another activity was the Dan Carter Kick and Catch. The objective of this game was to have one person kick the ball and another catch. Vaolele and Jeffrey were dynamite, even though we dropped the ball a bit.

The last challenge was the Scrum. You had to be pretty strong to do this because it took a lot of pushing. I was really proud of our class because some people got hurt but they kept trying. With a lot of effort, Australia won this.

In the last few minutes a lot of suspense wasin the air. We were waiting, biting our nails, shaking in our skin, nervous.

Then the judges went off and counted up the scores. Now the moment we were waiting for, who will be declared Tamaki Intermediate's Rugby World Cup Champion? In third place... Australia! In second place, equal... France and... New Zealand! And in first place... The new World Champions, South Africa! Then the loudest shout in the history of World Cups arose from the students of Tamaki Intermediate.

On this day I had a lot of fun. It was great watching and taking part of the tournament. Playing the games was really fun, my favourite was the Chant Challenge. It was brilliant and I know that for Room 3 to come second with Room 12 would have taken a lot of effort. It was on outstanding experience and I wish that we could have it again. Maybe it will be the lucky year for New Zealand, to reclaim their cup!

My Favourite Subject

My Favourite Subject

My favourite subject is reading. Why it is reading is because I enjoy reading books and doing response activities. What I think is different about reading in other countries than in New Zealand, is that we do response activities. Response activities are questions that you answer after reading the story or book.

Learning Presentation

I learn't how to make a Google presentation. It will be helpful for showing people my work in an easier way. It was very interesting and I will use this knowledge in future.we made a quiz and I hope that others will have fun doing this as well.

My Flag

This is my flag because I am really into things that are crazy and loud. I also really, really like bubbles and swirls and squiggles. The heart is because I will always be there for my mates and my family.
